Una,Himachal Pradesh, March 4, 2024: Shri Anurag Thakur, Hon`ble Union Cabinet Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Youth Affairs and Sports rolled out Chetak Foundation`s Joint Raod Safety Campaign for youth under his "Nasha Mukt, Suraksha Yuksh`Abhiyaan at Una, Himachal Pradesh. The Hon`ble Minister along with Shri Sachin Haritash, Director Chetak Logistics distributed the first lot of helmets to the youth of Una, Himachal Pradesh, in the first ofthe series of Road Safety camps being organised in the State toenhance the safety of two-wheeler riders, at an event held in Una. Also present on the occasion were senior state leaders, Shri Arun Arora,Director Chetak Foundation, and its Governing Board Member Shri Deepak Chauhan. The event assumes importance keeping in mind the significant role the Hon`ble Minister plays as Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports in addition to Information and Broadcasting, as he himself rode on bike equipped with a helmet to demonstrate to youth the importance of safety gear to enhance their safety on the road. Chetak Foundation under its Zindagi Plus Road Safety initiative will distribute over 10000 helmets to the two-wheeler riders in the first phase of its Road Safety initiative. It may be noted that Indian roads continue to see Lakhs of road accidents and thousands of fatalities, a majority of them being two-wheeler riders. Chetak Foundation, the CSR arm of Chetak Group, the leader in Auto motive Logistics in India, has thus decided to address this grave area of concern. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Anurag Thakur, Hon`ble Union Cabinet Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Youth Affairs and Sports, said, "We are glad to note that Chetak Foundation has come forward to support the government`s efforts to enhance safety on roads by distributing helmets to two-wheeler riders, starting with the youth of Himachal Pradesh. It is heartening to begin the noble campaign with Una under "Nasha Mukt, Suraksha Yukt" Abhiyaan, as we feel youth have precious lives which cannot be wasted with drugs or lack of road safety equipment. I rode the bike as I wished to lead by example. We hope many more corporates and foundations join hands in such anoteworthy initiative". Shri Sachin Haritash Director of Chetak Group and Foundation said, "Chetak Foundation endeavours to make a positive impact on the lives of under privileged communities. We are really happy that the Hon`ble Minister has blessed our initiative to personally distribute the first set of helmets to the youth of Himachal Pradesh. His progressive and proactive gesture will encourage us to work with evengreater vigour. We strongly urge two-wheeler riders and pillions including women, to always wear helmets for a Secured Zindagi". Chetak Foundation focuses on broad areas including Education, Environment,Health and Road Safety esp. for the under privileged. Chetak Foundation has conceived specific interventions to enhance beneficiaries` experience. Some of these include Oxygen Plus (an environment initiative), Swasthaya Plus (a Health initiative), Shikha Plus (an Education initiative) and Zindagi Plus (a Road Safety Initiative).
